“Mike has to be accountable and responsible for his own decisions and actions,” – Kennard McGuire
Maligned running back Mike Goodson has been released by the New York Jets today after he was a no show at mandatory Training Camp this week. The event itself was a culmination of a long off season where Goodson was supposed to be recovering from ACL/MCL surgery.
The Jets, who signed Goodson to a $6.9 million three year free agent deal last year, is pending charges on a drugs and weapons arrest last year, was a no call/no show to the 11 prior voluntary training sessions leading up to Tuesday’s mandatory Training Camp.
I won’t get into personal conversations that we had with others,” General manager John Idzi said, “but again, very suffice to say we gave Mike, I think, ample opportunity.”
In other camp news, QB Geno Smith seems ready to take on a bigger role in his upcoming sophomore season with the Jets. Although Smith had a shaky end to last season, he is looking to have a sharp training camp this year to stave off Michael Vick from the number one QB spot.
